Next Stop, California!

Hardscrabble Peak in the Bridger Mountains still holds some snow in July.

I'm standing on Hardscrabble Peak in the Bridger Mountains.

On this particular outing, I ran first from the Fairy Lake Trailhead to the top of Sacajawea Peak. Then, I returned to the Fairy Lake Trailhead and ran up Hardscrabble Peak. Next, I ran from Hardscrabble Peak straight over to to Sacajawea Peak. Finally, I ended back at the Fairy Lake Trailhead. Total mileage was low but the vertical was insane, about 12 miles and 5,000 feet gain. I did this run the weekend before going to Burning River 100, ran almost every step except the scree on Hardscrabble, and knew I was in damn fine shape. It was an awesome morning in the mountains.

It’s fairly fitting that my last post from Yellowstone contains a couple pictures from the Bridger Mountains, my favorite place to run locally. Also, I never had time to post photos from two very excellent Bridger Mountains runs I did during July and August, so I’m squeezing in a little Bridger Mountains love here. Finally, it’s appropriate to post old trip pictures because I’ve still been doing so little running. I’m healthy and happy, just too busy to do anything but maintenance running and the miles I put in with the cross country team.

My house is in a state of utter chaos right now, and I find it hard to believe that in 36 hours, it’s going to be empty and we’ll be on the road to California. By the end of the weekend, we’ll be unpacking into the Sea Foam Palace, my little rental house in the California woods. On Tuesday of next week, I start my new job. Next stop, California!

Drive carefully and enjoy the trip! Can’t wait to see pics of the new place. Packing up to go is the worst – but unpacking is fun!

Did you end up leaving your bike and trainer in the bathroom? Seems like you may have had to cut the wall out to remove those items from your make-shift heat training room.

Will the Sea Foam Palace have a better heat training room?

    Enjoy the experience!
