2010 is moments from being in the books. I’ll call it a superb year, for sure.
Life has taken many new forms over the course of the last 365 1/3 days, and adaptation has been the name of my game. I incited most of this change myself, and I’m grateful to possess the freedom of doing so. It’s been a wild ride, and I’ve loved most minutes of it.
The highs of 2010 were good times spent with family and friends, running the Marathon des Sables, my summertime high Sierra Nevada obsession, and our move to Utah’s life elevated. The year’s lows involved a few family deaths, watching my aged dog age some more, saying good-bye to the mighty Yosemite, and coming to terms with the fact that my own body wasn’t standing physically tough.
No matter what, though, I’ve grounded myself into nature’s playgrounds. Pattering along trails, peering at rock crystals, poking cacti, and rubbing my hands along a tree’s rough bark: this is the stuff that fills me. In this respect, 2010 has been a year of exquisite play.
Thanks, 2010, I raise my glass to you.
